Most people have heard of ABS - the braking system that enables you to keep control of your car whilst braking and steering at the same time. But have you heard of ESP (Electronic Stability Program)? Some companies believe this system contributes so much towards driver safety that they insist on only providing cars fitted with this system to their drivers. Matthew Avery, crash laboratory manager at motor research centre Thatcham, called ESP a lifesaver and recommended all fleets choose it despite its extra cost. Some would say that it is as important as ABS.
Research carried out by the AA on behalf of fleets has revealed some startling savings that could be achieved through buying petrol and diesel on supermarket forecourts as opposed to average filling stations. The difference over three years for a 150 car fleet is £138,000 if a diesel fleet and £190,000 for a petrol fleet based on cars covering 30,000 miles per annum. a lesson to be learned - even if we run just one car!
A warning to those who are committed to using the web for everything including paying their road fund licence. It came to light recently that tax payments are not being recorded quickly enough after a driver had been stopped by the police as the car was shown on their computer as having no tax and having a Statutory Off Road Notice. Even after showing the police officer the tax disc on the screen the car was still impounded as the officer said that it could be a forgery. As a result a fee of £140 would have to be paid before the car could be released and the authority sued in order to recover the cost. How ridiculous is that! So my advice - pop along to the Post Office to renew your road fund licence, it will be safer!

When the broker contacted me he was not aware that I was involved in the motor trade. In fact I was looking for vehicles on behalf of customers, the bottom line is that we have so far supplied five cars all without complication and as a result we are very keen to develop the connection."
