Can my family drive my leased car
Can I give permission to my family to drive my leased car?
Q. I want to lease a car in my company name or in my personal name but also allow my wife and son to drive it do I have to get permission from the leasing company?
A. No you don't unless it says so in the contract.
Even if it says you must let them know - that is all you have to do, you don't have to ask their permission but as the lessee you have a duty of care to ensure that all drivers are legally entitled to drive, have a full driving licence are legally able to drive (not banned or have a health impediment) and are covered by fully comprehensive insurance.
They must also be covered for business use if they use the car for business. You are still responsible for the car and its return condition so make sure that they understand their duty to look after the car.
Any losses sustained by the leasing company will be recharged to you.
