Childrens Car Seats and Booster Seats The Regulations and Law
|
Car Booster seats and Child Seat regulations. The soon to be introduced regulations regarding car seat and booster seat requirements for children up to 4' 5" tall earlier but a new concern was raised this week regarding the activation and deactivation of passenger seat airbags. First of all when carrying a babyseat on the passenger seat you must be able to deactivate the air bag. Some cars have this fitted but, for example, VW charge £30 for the switch and £30 labour to have a switch fitted to a Polo but what about the insurance position? If the driver hasn't or is unable to deactivate the airbag causing injury to the baby will the insurer still payout. And supposing the airbag is not reactivated when the baby is taken out and a passenger is seriously injured as a result of the airbag not being deployed in an accident? Something that all employers should cover in the driver's contract of employment or driver's handbook. If you are unsure you should check with your insurer as to the true cover provided. |
