Sat Nav Thefts Protecting your vehicle
|
What can you do to protect your gadgets & Gizmos.. There has been an upsurge in sales of mobile sat nav units with a corresponding upsurge in thefts of units from vehicles. There has been a 17% increase in smash and grab incidents involving the theft of sat nav units resulting in warnings to drivers not only to remove the units from display and hide away, normally under the driver's seat, but also to remove any tell tale signs that there is a sat nav unit in the car eg sucker marks on the windscreen where the sat nav unit was mounted. Masterlease has warned that there are gangs targeting cars that have sucker marks on the windscreen, smashing the side window and reaching under the driver's seat to find a unit there for the taking. The suggestion is to carry a cleaner and cloth and give the screen a quick wipe. You should clean the screen even if you take the unit with you because the thieves will just smash the sidescreen in the hope that you have left the unit in the car! |
