Bogus Insurance claims organised by criminal gangs

Almost one in five car insurance claims made last year could have been fraudulent, Sky News has learnt, and the increase is being linked to the recession.

A two-year investigation by Hertfordshire Police, called Operation Mysterious, resulted in one gang receiving a total of 10 years in jail.
Inspector Nick Chalmers, of the Metropolitan Police, said: "Innocent members of the public are being involved in serious collisions by criminal gangs just to make money. It is putting them and other road users seriously at risk."
