I understand there are changes coming for Driving Licenses
New driver licensing laws come into force next year that will set EU wide standards for health and eyesight . At the moment each country has different requirements so this will ensure consistency throughout Europe.
The new directive will affect only drivers replacing, renewing or applying for driving licences. The changes will set minimum eyesight levels and standardise health requirements for diabetics and epileptic drivers. From next year drivers must have ‘a binocular visual acuity’ meeting set standards, while diabetics will not receive a licence if their condition is poorly controlled and epileptic drivers must be free from seizure for at least 5 years.
