Scheduled Services are important
The warnings about about the dangers of not having your car serviced on time are often based around the issues of safety.
We have now had further warnings from manufacturers and leasing companies about the importance of having your car serviced on time. The manufacturers are referring to the potential loss of warranty cover if the car is not serviced ‘as per manufacturers’ recommendations’.
Defending Speeding Fines
In a bizarre new legal ruling if you go to court and defend yourself against a speeding offence, and get acquitted you will still have costs to pay under new Government rules. The new Ministry of Justice scheme will result in a defendant acquitted in the courts to only be reimbursed at current legal aid rates, regardless of their actual level of costs.
BSM Fiat and Vauxhall
Returning to the BSM (British Scool of Motoring) business model which apparantly requires a manufacturer to supply free cars. BSM dropped Vauxhall after Vauxhall decided they could not supply cars for free and negotiated a supply deal with Fiat to replace the cars that they traditionally had supplied by Vauxhall replacing Corsas with Fiat 500’s.
Dont drive Mondays
LeasePlan has found that the most dangerous day of the week to drive is Monday, replacing Tuesday in previous years.
More company cars are involved in accidents on a Monday than any other day of the week with the most dangerous time to travel being between 8.00am and 10.00am.
They also found that 10% of the accidents involved cars hitting stationary objects.
HP or Cash - Consomer Protection

Car Deals -Tips on avoiding Cons
The first giveaway is often a low selling price. Apparently the fake V5C registration documents that the con men use are so good that it is virtually impossible to identify them as forgeries.
Car safety Tests - Manufactuers and Euro NCAP
One of the huge benefits to buying or leasing a new car is that you will be driving a car with all the latest safety equipment fitted. Even the most modest cars have more equipment than they had fitted even just 3 years ago. The most significant for me is the wider fitting of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) also known as ESP.
Parking Fines and Cameras
The controversy and legal challenges to cameras being used to enforce parking is growing.
The Daily mail has a feature and pic if the Smart Car periscope camera being used to target offenders. It also gives detail of the case that was successfully appealed with three fines being squashed.
Another case in Manchester where the Council signs were ambiguous if not actually misleading is reported by the local Liberal Democrats.

Toads and Foreign Drivers change Road signs.
Climate warming is effecting the breeding and migration habits of toads. Legislation has had to be amended to allow councils to erect temp signs earlier in the year.
The menace of large HGV trucks following Sat Nav maps into narrow village lanes has caused another change which will allow local councils to erect signs.
Postal Strike and speeding fines.
Drivers caught speeding must receive a "Notice of Intended Prosecution" within 14 days of the incident.
If this is not done, then the prosecution is "fatally flawed" said Nick Freeman, the solicitor known as "Mr Loophole" who has specialised in handling in high profile cases.
